There have certainly been a number of advancements over the years regarding various marketing techniques and what worked a decade ago probably wouldn’t work as well today, although some early methods of internet marketing have stood the test of time.

One of the elements of modern website marketing that can be a significant enhancement to the number of regular visitors that the site might obtain each month is how word can spread about that website through channels that aren’t standard advertising methods such as a banner advertisement. Usually such opportunities will stem from personal recommendations that current visitors might offer their friends and if a company is offering solid products or services or content on their website, it can be very easy to generate traffic in this method.

For companies that have not yet built a solid primary customer base, sometimes it is possible to encourage new customers to spread the word about a company by offering special incentives such as coupons in exchange for information about someone who might enjoy learning about what the business has to offer. There are certainly other options available besides coupons, and the more creative an offer, the better chance a company has of obtaining recommendations.
